Skill-Based Startups:The Future Entrepreneurship Facebook

The common models for entrepreneurship normally focus on brilliant ideas as the starting points. However, most of famous success stories are not based on breakthrough ideas, but innovative approaches to evolve available ideas. A new model for entrepreneurship is presented based on the concepts of innovation and interdisciplinarity. Innovation is very tricky in the realms of business, and it is usually misunderstood. In this model, innovation is not a static starting idea, but a dynamic process managing the interdisciplinary team. While knowledge-based entrepreneurship relies on using available opportunities, skill-based entrepreneurship aims to create new opportunities. University is a perfect environment for the latter, as young enthusiastic students are the main requirements for building interdisciplinary teams. In this direction, we turn personal interests into business potentials. In other words, new startups are designed based on the skills and dreams of students, rather than formal business plans.
